This is a job advert for a Assistant Quantity Surveyor with NEC experience to join the London office of our growing consultancy.

Responsibilities

The role will involve all the typical duties of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor on major projects, as well as opportunities to get involved in major construction and engineering projects, claims and disputes and expert work, with the potential for international travel.

There will be a combination of working from our London Office and from client sites. We may also consider some element of remote working. In all circumstances, you will be required to travel from time to time, either to site or to client offices.


Qualifications and skills

The successful candidate will be expected to provide commercially pragmatic and legally astute quantity surveying and commercial management services and solutions to our diverse range of clients in the UK and overseas.

You will also need to be:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field such as Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Civil Engineering, etc.
  • A minimum of 1 years’ site experience, demonstrating effective capability for working autonomously and in project teams.
  • Excellent working knowledge of major forms of contracts, notably the NEC.
  • Demonstrable experience in a typical QS skillset – Contract administration, CVRs, interim payments, monthly reporting, letting of subcontracts, and negotiation of final accounts.
  • Have achieved or targeting to achieve Chartered Quantity Surveyor status (MRICS).
  • Very strong commercial awareness.
  • Technically proficient in Excel and writing commercial and legal Correspondence.
  • Proficient in commercial and legal terminology communications.
  • Some exposure to claims, disputes, or contentious work.
  • Some pre-contract knowledge.
  • Experience of major multi-million-pound construction or engineering projects.
