ALA is pleased to welcome our newest team member; Jake Ketteringham.

Jake joins us on a fixed-term contract over the summer months, before returning to complete his final year at University. Attending Northumbria University and studying Quantity Surveying, Jake wanted to explore the work of a Commercial Consultancy, in comparison to traditional Quantity Surveying. He was particularly interested in developing his skills in variations and measurement works.

Taking a proactive approach, he recognised that there’s only so much you can learn in the classroom and sought an opportunity with ALA through one of his personal contacts.

ALA has been able to secure an opportunity for Jake to work on a project in Denmark. He will be working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor alongside two other people from ALA. Together they will be providing commercial support for the project, and Jake will be managing subcontractor daily progress reports and payment certificates.

ALA was perfect for me to develop these skills and provided me with the chance to work abroad in Denmark, something which I am grateful for as not many students get this sort of opportunity. It will help me to gain knowledge and a greater understanding prior to commencing my final year, as well as assisting in gaining a foothold in the industry when finding a permanent place to work.
