I am based out of the Kirkby Lonsdale office, having joined ALA in 2018 as a Senior Quantity Surveyor and was elevated to Associate Director in 2021.
I have over 40 years’ commercial experience in the construction industry on many varied projects, spanning building, commercial, industrial, civil engineering, mechanical, water and wastewater treatment / process plants, electrical, infrastructure, aviation and oil and gas works. I have successfully completed the commercial, quantity surveying, contract administration and cost control functions on various types of standard and generic main contracts and subcontracts including JCT, ICE, FIDIC, IChemE and NEC by applying a proactive approach, with a will to get the job done, and to formulate the necessary strategies to make every project as successful as possible.
My career began as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor and progressed through managing an office with an average 55 staff to my current role as an Associate Director with ALA. I have experience of working for major companies in the construction industry, gaining invaluable knowledge and experience as well as obtaining relevant MRICS and MSc qualifications along the way. The construction industry has allowed me to extend my early life interest in travel and provided opportunities for me to work in over 10 different countries and continues in my current role.
Despite my many years of experience, working for ALA has provided numerous opportunities for me to work on a variety of projects which I had never previously gained any hands-on experience of, and which have presented challenges and issues requiring resolution. Working with ALA means that there is always an experienced and professional colleague on hand to share ideas with and to either help them with their issues, or to receive guidance and advice with my own, which is a major benefit for our clients.
Away from work I am interested in most sports, particularly football, and enjoy travel, walking and gardening.
