Working out of the Kirkby Lonsdale offices, my role with ALA is to support contractors on live projects in a commercial capacity, managing commercial teams or working on contractual/entitlement disputes.
Having hands-on experience and understanding the pressures of running a live project can be invaluable when we are preparing claims for entitlement, particularly in teasing out the timeline and narrative of the contested issues from the project staff.
My experience comes from working for my family’s civil engineering firm from age thirteen, during weekends and school & college holidays, continuing into my early twenties. After that I spent 8 years with a regional civil engineering contractor delivering projects as a site manager and quantity surveyor. I also undertook project management on NEC D&B contracts, managing large teams of in-house staff, design consultants, and specialist sub-contractors. During this time, I earned professional qualifications for site management and quantity surveying.
Since joining ALA I have been able to work on several commercial building jobs, mostly under JCT contracts, which has been a great addition to my civil engineering and NEC experience.
It is fantastic to be part of growing team at ALA. I relish the positive feedback from our clients and much of our business is from return customers.
Outside work I can usually be found making noise in my garage on a variety of musical instruments or being bossed around by my two young kids.
