Richard Elston

Associate Director

Richard is an Associate Director of ALA, based out of our Warrington office. 

He joined ALA in May 2019 and became an Associate Director in 2021.  

Richard is a degree qualified Quantity Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience. He acts as a Commercial Consultant and Claims Consultant. He has experience with all major forms of contract and has particular experience with the NEC.  

Richard also holds a post-graduate diploma in arbitration, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and has served on the Management Committee for the North West branch of CIArb for many years 

His recent appoints include being heavily involved with a refit project on a Type 45 Destroyer at a major shipyard, and acting as a Commercial Manager in the nuclear sector.  

As well as the nuclear and defence sectors, Richard also has extensive experience working on mechanical and electrical projects.  

His dispute experience includes working on complex major construction projects including energy from waste projects; major London skyscrapers and wastewater treatment plants.  

Richard is also responsible for managing our growing Warrington office. 

Outside of work, Richard is an accomplished badminton player (having competed as far afield as Japan) and a keen cyclist.
