James is a key member of ALA’s Expert team of Quantity Surveyors, with over 18 years of industry experience, underpinned by a strong academic background with a BSc in Quantity Surveying and an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution. His professional credentials also include Membership of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (MCInstCES).
Throughout his career, James has developed deep expertise in the analysis, valuation, and monitoring of change on live projects, and has led the management of claims and final account negotiations across a wide range of infrastructure projects. His experience spans both UK and international markets, including major civil engineering and complex process projects in the energy, water, and transport sectors.
James is regularly appointed as a Quantum Expert, where he is known for his ability to swiftly get to the heart of complex issues and deliver clear, authoritative opinions. His commissions include major European infrastructure projects and technically complex power station disputes.
